Overview

In public sociology, you will confront public issues and social problems through engagement that reaches beyond the academy. Applying sociological theory and research methods to contemporary issues, you will explore how social structures and systems influence you and those around you. This flexible 12-credit program includes a six-credit core to provide a foundation in public sociology, looking at social policy, advocacy, and social change. You will build on that foundation with a customized course of study with elective courses chosen from a diverse field of course offerings relevant to public sociology and your intellectual interests and career goals. Credits from this program can be applied toward an MA.
