Funding your master's education and gaining practical experience

The following fellowships are available to help make education more affordable for current NRSD students.

Also, below are some examples of organizations offering internships of interest to NRSD graduate students. For students in the NRSD program, a summer internship is often a central feature of their Master's experience; students can choose to spend several months working intensively on aspects of sustainable development.Ìý

Though the home base of Costa Rica and UPEACE connections offers great access to Latin American opportunities, each year NRSD students also venture to other continents to pursue their internships. Recent internships have included working with the Ministry of Environment in Quito, Ecuador to develop a system for evaluating protected area management to meet Convention on Biological Diversity requirements; producing concept proposals on topics ranging from rights-based conservation to indigenous community climate change adaptation at the IUCN's office in Costa Rica; working on sea turtle conservation and rescue on the Costa Rican coast; and teaching sustainable development to Tibetan refugee children in Ladakh, India.
