Undergraduate Education and Academic Student Services Purpose Statement

To support and advance student learning, success, and thriving through transformative educational experiences

First Year Advising Mission Statement

The mission of the First Year Advising office is to use teaching, advising, and advocacy to empower students to pursue their continued development in college.

Holistic Academic Advising

Throughout a student's first year we provide consistency and support as they navigate Â鶹ÊÓƵ and their academic path. With our students we place an emphasis on advising and coaching the whole student. We go beyond academics and incorporate their social, cultural, psychological and academic adjustment to college in our meetings. We provide the highest level of student service possible, but also recognize the importance of student responsibility. We provide students with all of their options and then support them in making and taking ownership of their decisions and education.

Focus on student learning and engagement

Both inside and outside of the classroom, we want students to be learning and engaging with the campus community. We place emphasis on engagement, knowing that it leads to students thriving.ÌýÌý
