Jay Warren Lytle

"Jay" Warren Lytle ('  )

is a partner in the Washington, D.C. Office of Sughrue Mion PLLC. Professor Lytle practices in all areas of patent law with an emphasis on managing prosecution of large patent portfolios, inter partes patent matters including patent litigation in federal courts and patent trials in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO), counseling clients on intellectual property matters, preparing and prosecuting patents, and opinion work. He has experience litigating patent issues in various U.S. district courts and before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC). He also has experience with contested patent proceedings before administrative agencies including the International Trade Commission (ITC) and as lead counsel in patent trials before the PTO's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).

Professor Lytle has represented clients for over two decades before the USPTO, including serving as lead counsel in PTAB trials, with emphasis in software, computer, and electronics technologies. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as an electrical engineer and programmer for IBM Corporation on large, technically complex projects and products.

Professor Lytle received his JD magna cum laude from the Â鶹ÊÓƵ Washington College of Law. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Electrical Engineering/Computers both from the University of Maryland College Park.
