Daniela Kravetz

Daniela Kravetz is a Chilean lawyer specializing in human rights, international criminal law, gender violence, and access to justice in countries in conflict and post-conflict. She has held various positions in countries in Latin America, Africa, and the former Yugoslavia.

Since October 2018, Professor Kravetz has served as the Special Rapporteur for Eritrea of ??the United Nations Human Rights Council. From 2016 to 2018, she was a member of the Sudan Expert Panel of the United Nations Security Council, where she served as an expert in international humanitarian law. Professor Kravetz, previously worked for more than twelve years for the Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia, first as an assistant judge in first hearing rooms, and then as a prosecutor in the Office of the Prosecutor. She has been an expert in human rights and gender before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and visiting professor at the University of Ottawa Law School.

Currently, she specializes in providing technical assistance to institutions of transitional justice in matters of gender-based violence and terms of documentation techniques for serious human rights violations. Her areas of investigation and publication include gender crimes in international criminal law, women's rights in post-conflict periods, and transitional justice and gender.

Professor Kravetz is studying to get a doctorate at the University of Leiden, in the Netherlands, where she conducts a study on the judicialization of gender crimes and the implementation of international criminal law in transitional justice processes in Latin America.
