International Finance and Human Rights Project
The Center for Human rights & Humanitarian Law at Â鶹ÊÓƵ Washington College of Law partnered with the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria in 2016 on a project to strengthen human rights standards in the financial sector. The Centers engaged experts in the field to explore whether a human rights analytical framework would add value to the governance and operating principles and practices of the SSBs and would help improve the substance of the international standards that they develop.
In April 2017, the Centers convened an Experts Workshop on International Financial regulation and Human Rights at Â鶹ÊÓƵWCL to analyze the human rights implications of the governance and decision making procedures of the international financial regulatory standard setting bodies (SSBs) and of the international financial regulatory standards that they develop. Experts also assessed the human rights implications arising from how the international community monitors the implementation of these standards by national regulatory and supervisory authorities.
