Our History
Founded in 1994, the Human Rights Brief is the oldest and largest student-run brief at Â鶹ÊÓƵWCL. When the Center’s founders—Robert Goldman, Claudio Grossman, and Herman Schwartz—introduced the inaugural issue of the Brief, they envisioned broadening the understanding of challenges facing human rights activism in the world, as well as presenting the ways in which our community meet those challenges. For nearly two decades, the Brief published three issues per year, featuring articles on emerging human rights issues, as well as up-to-date coverage of developments in the regional human rights systems, the United Nations, international criminal courts and tribunals. The Brief’s print editions reached more than 4,000 subscribers in over 130 countries.
