Coach Owens is a Supervising Attorney in Montgomery County with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender (OPD). She joined OPD in 2017, where she is currently responsible for the direct training, mentoring, and development of front line District Court trial attorneys to ensure they are equipped to provide client-centered legal representation to our indigent, under-represented, and marginalized clients. In her previous roles she worked on the front lines as a District Court and then a Felony Trial Attorney, in Washington County, Maryland and Baltimore City respectively. Prior to becoming a Public Defender, she worked as an Associate with Quinones & Associates, PLLC in Houston, Texas with her former mock trial coach and mentor, Letitia D. Quinones-Hollins, Esq.
Coach Owens was a member of the mock trial team during her law school tenure competing in competitions hosted by the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA). Dyan had the distinct honor of returning to coach mock trial teams at alma mater in Houston, Texas before returning to the East Coast.
