Dr. Halla Shoaibi
SJD Program Graduate
Dr. Shoaibi successfully completed her S.J.D. degree at Â鶹ÊÓƵ Washington College of Law. The title of her dissertation was "Pregnant Women's Access to Health Care in the Occupied Palestinian Territory: application under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court." Prior to joining Washington College of Law’s S.J.D. program, Dr. Shoaibi served as an Associate at Kamal & Associates, Attorneys and Counselors at Law in Ramallah, Palestine. She also interned for Human Rights Watch conducting research on and advocacy for migrant female domestic workers, their portrayal in media, analysis of Kuwaiti regulations, as well as drafting new legislation. Dr. Shoaibi's LLM focused on the interaction of International Criminal law and women's rights. She has given presentations at numerous conferences in the United States and abroad on issues of childbirth at Israeli checkpoints as a crime against humanity, and most recently, has spoken and written on a need for re-evaluation of women's activism in Palestine since the Arab uprisings.
