Library Services for Fall 2021

Welcome back! The library is once again open to all Â鶹ÊÓƵ students, faculty, and staff. However, due to precautions around COVID-19, entry to the library will be allowed by swipe-access only so you will be required to have your Â鶹ÊÓƵID to enter and any point during our hours of operation.

Masks are required in the building at all times. Unaffiliated visitors must complete the visitor registration form before arriving.

  • Our hours of operation are up-to-date and can be found here. The stacks are open and books can be borrowed onsite or through our Click and Collect curbside service, which will continue into the Fall. Questions about Borrowing assistance is available via email at circulation@american.edu or through chat.
  • Starting this semester, Â鶹ÊÓƵ has completed its transition from Blackboard to Canvas as our online learning platform. Questions about Canvas can be directed .
  • Our Research Assistance Desk will be open for in-person service as well during the week, though we will only be staffing it virtually and Saturdays and Sundays this semester. Assistance is still available 24/7 through our chat service and both in-person and virtual appointments can be made with our Research, Teaching, and Learning staff. Please go here to see more about available services.
  • While the majority of our course reserves materials for classes will be available electronically, print reserves will be available to borrow in the library. The library will not be continuing our Digital Textbook Borrowing program that we offered while classes were entirely virtual, but all instructor-requested course materials will be available through the library.

We look forward to a successful semester and helping all of our users to the very best of our abilities. Please reach out if you have any questions at all about library space, resources, or services. Again, welcome back and we are happy to be back with you!
