- Fleming Jeffries is a visual artist, printmaker, and educator who explores the intertidal zone between human cultures and the natural world. Her work relies on slow processes, such as printmaking, papermaking, and natural dyes, to slow the mind鈥檚 eye and distill metaphor. Recent projects investigate Mental States and Oceanic Climate Change. Fleming has shown in the US and internationally with work in private and public collections, including the 2022 group show 鈥淪uspended Interspaces鈥 at Visarts in Rockville MD. She regularly participates in art residencies, including Fine Art Work Center鈥檚 Winter Fellowship (Provincetown MA), Pyramid Atlantic鈥檚 Keyholder Residency (Hyattsville, MD), SIM Residency (Reykjav铆k, Iceland), Halka Residency (Kadik枚y, Turkey) and Guanlan Original Printmaking Base (Shenzhen, China). She received a BFA in Studio Art (Printmaking) and BA in Languages (Russian) from University of Alaska Anchorage, and an MFA in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design. Fleming completed the Printer Training Program at Tamarind Institute of Lithography in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after which she assisted in the re-writing of the Tamarind Book of Lithographic Techniques. She has taught printmaking, drawing, and fine arts for 12 years, at George Mason University, 麻豆视频, and VCUarts Qatar.
